1. For the first time in Cayman’s history, a people-initiated referendum has called for a national vote in regards to the cruise port project. With a total of 5,302 signatures from registered voters, the future of the $200 million project is now in the hands of the public.
     
  2. With the recent devastation upon the Bahamas from Hurricane Dorian, Hurley’s Media will be hosting a benefit Happy Hour to raise money for the victims of Dorian. Head to the Cayman National boardwalk at Camana Bay today at 5:00pm-8:00pm to show your support of our Caribbean neighbours.
     
  3. According to an annual report conducted by the Economics and Statistics Office, Cayman’s economy grew 3.3% in 2018. Growth is attributed to a record number of stayover and cruise tourists and a construction boom.
     
  4. Known for its purple packaging, Cadbury chocolate struck gold recently by removing the words off their iconic chocolate bar packaging. The ‘Donate your words’ campaign aims to raise awareness on loneliness among older people with Cadbury donating 30p for every bar bought to Age UK.
     
  5. The best of luck to our National Robotics team who will be traveling to Dubai next month to compete in the 2019 FIRST Global Challenge. With over 186 countries being represented, we look forward to seeing how Team Cayman stacks up to the international competition.
