Hi everyone! My name is Parker Godwin and I am a senior at the University of South Alabama. I am currently double majoring in Marketing and Management. I am aspiring to be a member of the creative marketing team at Nike one day. This past semester I started taking the required classes for both majors and I have really enjoyed learning the different aspects of marketing and management.
I have been fortunate enough to have internships at The Ritz Carlton – Grand Cayman and Carey Olsen law firm. I just recently started my internship with Tower two weeks ago and did not know what to expect. I am not going to lie; I thought I would be a glorified servant and make frequent trips to the break room to make countless copies, refill empty coffee cups, and get lost in the amount of files that need to be organized. Luckily, this internship is nothing like I had expected. Not only have I been assigned to numerous projects but I have also learned a lot as to what goes into a successful communications agency.
I think the best aspect of this internship has been that I’ve been able to work on a variety of day to day tasks. I have been able to see what goes into making a successful event, how to manage a business on social media platforms, and I have even been behind the scenes at photoshoots for clients. Being an intern at Tower has also helped develop my writing abilities as well as my communication skills. The experience that I have gained so far has definitely solidified what I want to pursue in terms of my career path and cannot wait to see what is in store for the rest of this internship and my future marketing career.
