The Cayman Islands Football Association’s annual awards ceremony was held last Friday, 26th June, at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort. The awards, presented by members of CIFA’s Executive Committee, celebrated local players, coaches, officials and administrators as well as honouring members of the football community who participate in the Association’s eleven leagues and programmes for both males and females in all age categories.
The ceremony, hosted by Sheena Hurlstone, was attended by over 300 players, officials and guests with more than 50 players, coaches and officials being recognized for their participation and continued contribution to the Association.
Particular recognition was given to David Connolly who was awarded in 4 categories, including the U23 League Most Valuable Player, Cayman Premier League Most Valuable Player, Cayman Premier League Top Scorer and U23 Men’s FA Cup Most Valuable Player.
Mr Bruce Blake, CIFA Acting President, said “We are always proud of the talent being cultivated within our local leagues and the 2014-15 season was no exception”. He added “It was especially pleasing to see our youngest players being recognised at the awards ceremony.”
Mr Blake also commended those involved in women’s football which continues to go from strength to strength.
