The Special Needs Foundation of Cayman is celebrating World Autism Awareness Day on Thursday April 2nd.

Autism is a general term used to describe a group of complex developmental brain disorders – autism spectrum disorders – caused by a combination of genes and environmental influences.

All over the world, in commemoration of this day, organizations join in the Light It Up Blue campaign. Many communities, businesses and even iconic landmarks around the world unite by shining bright blue lights in honour of the millions of individuals and families around the world affected by autism.

Local companies can also participate by wearing blue to work on Thursday April 2nd and donate $5 per employee to the foundation.
