An incredible distinction for Cayman’s national airline, respected travel critic Richard Bangs has just issued his choice of top eight airlines worldwide, and Cayman Airways is on the list.

In his article “The Eight Great Airlines for 2015” written for the Huffington Post, Mr. Bangs says that in the past months he has flown most of the major international carriers, as well as quite a few of the smaller carriers. As a result, he decided to “memorialize” his own personal recommendations of those he found exceptional.

Cayman Airways was listed alongside Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, Cathay Pacific, Turkish Airlines, LAN Airlines, and Emirates.

Mr. Bangs flew Cayman Airways in 2012 and his subsequent report from that trip is included in his most recent article on his pick of the world’s top eight airlines. He said he was especially delighted to find that Cayman Airways allowed two free checked bags, which he called “the exception these days”. The famous complimentary Rum Punch served on every Cayman Airways jet flight was another draw for the travel critic, as he noted: “It is also the only carrier I’ve ever flown that offers rum punch on the service tray.”

He also noted that Cayman Airways has been flying since 1968 and continues to serve a variety of international destinations and gateways.

Cayman Airways President and CEO, Fabian Whorms, underscored the significance of the listing for the airline: “Richard Bangs is a respected travel critic who travels the world for a living and has had the chance to compare all the major airlines in the world. In addition, The Huffington Post, owned by AOL, is a Pulitzer Prize-winning news outlet. The opinions of Mr. Bangs and of Huffington Post are therefore noteworthy and hold considerable credence.”

Mr. Whorms added: “We are delighted to be part of this important listing, which puts the spotlight on all the incredible hard work of our Cayman Airways family, who always go the extra mile to provide a superior service for all our customers, travel critics or not.”

The eight airlines featured in Mr. Bangs’ top eight were not ranked hierarchically. Instead, they were all airlines which he felt provided unanticipated quality, extraordinary service and overall distinction.
