Fabian Whorms Youth CupProud to play an integral role in one of the most exciting sports tournaments for Cayman’s youth, Cayman Airways Limited (CAL) announces that it is the title sponsor and official airline of the first ever Cayman Airways Invitational Youth Cup.

An under-14 football tournament, the event is slated for 6th – 11th May and is attracting big name clubs from all over the world to play here in the Cayman Islands alongside Cayman’s own youth footballers.

Cayman Airways President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Fabian Whorms, said the event is right on track with Cayman’s efforts to be a sports tourism destination of choice in the region.

“The Cayman Islands is rapidly building up a superb reputation as a sports tourism location of excellence and Cayman Airways is proud to play its part to help make this happen,” he says. “We congratulate our young sporting heroes for their efforts and commitment to the sport so far, as they prepare to take on some worthy talent from overseas.”

The Cayman Airways Invitational Youth Cup will see the Cayman Islands national under 14 squad take on their peers from Charlton Athletic (England), IMG Academy (United States), Real Club Deportivo España (Honduras), Harbour View F.C (Jamaica) and St Clair’s Coaching School (Trinidad and Tobago) during a five-day tournament that promises to be a hard fought competition.

Director of the National Youth Programme, Arden Rivers, says organisers West Bay Sports Foundation and Academy Sports Club are excited to be producing a tournament that has managed to attract some of the best young football players from the region and beyond.

“It is truly impressive that youngsters playing in teams from the US, the UK and the Caribbean are keen to participate in Cayman’s first Invitational Youth Cup,” he said. “The fact that Cayman has managed to attract such great talent up front bodes very well for the tournament’s continued future success.”

“This promises to be an outstanding five days of competition. We are proud of our young men who have committed to pursuing their aspirations in sport and we will be cheering them on from the stands”, Mr Rivers said.

“We are incredibly grateful to Cayman Airways as our title sponsor, as we would not have had an event of this magnitude without their support. Because of this support we are able to fly in these teams from around the region”, Rivers said.

It is anticipated that the Cayman Airways Invitational Youth Cup will become an annual event and one of the most prestigious in the region for youth football.
