Organizers for the TEDxSevenMileBeach conference are delighted to announce an impressive line-up of speakers for this inaugural event, which takes place on 3 April 2014 at the Harquail Theatre. Coming from all walks of life and varied professional backgrounds, each speaker is gifted in the art of communication and is set to deliver a thought-provoking and interactive dialogue that will produce vital discussion among participants.

Wellness coach Annikki Brown, reading specialist Lisa Sullivan, music therapist Julianne Parolisi, brand designer Caine Smith, business communication expert Carrie Bedingfield and education-focused business leader Emma Donaldson will join the existing list of speakers: mental health professional Taylor Burrowes, R.E.A.C.H. Communications CEO Javier Sanchez, children’s author, cartoonist, performer and master storyteller Lady Rabia Abdul Hakim and green building and sustainability educator Marni Evans.

Caine Smith, owner of Atelier, has spent the last 15 years working with some of the biggest brands in the world, consulting for Disney, Vail Resorts, Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Line to name but a few, focusing on improving the experience for their guests.

In her coaching practice, Annikki Brown is a Wellness Warrior. She coaches groups, couples and individual leaders who are stuck, working with them to find and pursue their own special purpose and unique version of wellness and unleash their unique and powerful gifts into the world.

As a music therapist, Cayman Music Therapy founder Julianne Parolisi is trained in the use of music and other creative arts as a tool for connecting to possibility and it is her life’s passion and mission to help others tap into their own potential through the powerful and universal language of music.

The organizers are also very happy to announce that HR guru Samantha Nehra will be moderating the event. Ms Nehra said “I am delighted that I will have the honor of hosting the TEDxSevenMileBeach event. I’m still pinching myself! I have been a fan (semi-obsessed) of TED since 2006, and to have the opportunity to facilitate dialogue between the brightest and best speakers and the movers and shakers of the Cayman Islands, is truly a humbling, once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

Licensee and organiser Marzeta Bodden believes that TEDxSevenMileBeach will offer participants a unique opportunity that should hopefully provide them with new perspectives.

“Just 100 delegates will gain the opportunity to join the guest speakers in what will prove to be a unique meeting of the minds, under the theme ‘Connecting to Possibility’,” she said. “I am extremely grateful to our distinguished speakers and our moderator for their collective input and their passion for TEDxSevenMileBeach.”

Although the ticket application process has closed, there is a waiting list for prospective attendees. Visit www.tedxsevenmilebeach.com to sign up and stay informed.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

About TED
TED is a non-profit organisation devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California almost 30 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes on a diverse mix of topics. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The TED2014 Conference will take place in Vancouver, British Columbia, along with the TEDActive simulcast in neighbouring Whistler. TEDGlobal 2014 will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

TED’s media initiatives include TED.com, where new TED Talks are posted daily; the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed; and TEDBooks, short e-books on powerful ideas. TED has established the annual TED Prize, where exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world get help translating their wishes into action; TEDx, which supports individuals or groups in hosting local, self-organised TED-style events around the world; and the TED Fellows programme, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
