Clients of Cayman’s financial services industry who are based in New York this week got to hear first-hand about progress for the industry into 2014 during a special breakfast seminar hosted by Cayman Finance and at the same time enjoyed unprecedented networking opportunities with leading members of Cayman’s financial services industry, both from the private and public sectors.
Around 150 guests attended the seminar, which was held on Monday at the St Regis Roof, St Regis, on New York City’s Fifth Avenue, the majority of whom came from the New York area, as well as a strongly supported Cayman contingent.
Cayman Finance CEO Gonzalo Jalles was extremely pleased with the turn out: “The success of the Cayman Islands financial services industry depends on our partnerships both within the Cayman Islands and with our external partners also. The purpose of our New York seminar was to solidify those partnerships already in existence and to create new relationships which will only serve to enhance our ability to provide an even better service for our clients,” he said. “We were therefore delighted that so many vital attendees were able to participate.”
Minister for Financial Services Wayne Panton was also in attendance, along with the Ministry’s Chief Officer, Dr Dax Basdeo.
Minister Panton gave a keynote address, during which he updated the assembled guests on Cayman’s latest regulatory improvements, including those in relation to directorships and exempted limited partnerships, as well as talking on the subject of Cayman’s healthy economic outlook.
“Cayman’s economy is firmly on track, as a result of careful budgeting, economic growth and key legislative actions,” he advised the audience.
Speaking to the success of the New York seminar, Minister Panton said: “Working together to produce this event, the Ministry of Financial Services and Cayman Finance have been able to create a unified voice when it comes to promoting the Cayman Islands financial services industry overseas. I am extremely pleased that we were able to offer this opportunity for New York clients not only to hear about how well our industry is doing, but to also have the chance to network with leading members of Cayman’s financial services industry in such a direct manner. This hands-on approach is critical for the industry’s continued success.”
