With the 2017 Cayman Islands Healthcare Conference only days away, the committee has announced the interactive breakout sessions that will take place on the afternoon of Friday, October 20th, highlighting this year’s theme of “Food for Thought: Exploring the relationship between nutrition and health”. The conference will be held at the Ritz Carlton, Grand Cayman, from October 19th – 21st, 2017.

Chef Maureen Cubbon, Bon Vivant, will speak on Healthy Eating at Home and will be demonstrating a quick and easy recipe that attendees will be able to replicate at home to dish up a healthy family meal. Brian Crichlow, Assistant Director at the Cayman Islands Department of Agriculture, will discuss the Farm to Table movement and benefits of local produce, which will be followed by a demonstration from Ritz-Carlton chefs.

For those that would like to get a more hands-on experience, both Bon Vivant and The Brasserie chefs will be hosting a total of six interactive food demonstrations in the Ritz-Carlton culinary studio. These will take place at 9:00am, 10:00-am and 11:00am on both Friday and Saturday mornings, and are offered to attendees on a first-come, first-served basis.

“These breakout sessions are important as they really show how to take the key points from all the presentations at the conference, and use them to create nutritious as well as delicious meals at home,” Ms. Lizzette Yearwood, Chair of the Conference Planning Committee and CEO of the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority, said.

“The idea behind each session is to demonstrate that healthy is an attainable ideal and very easy to implement into your daily routine,” Ms. Yearwood said.
