New Year, new you?  It’s time to challenge yourself and participate in the 2016 Off the Beaten Track, Cayman’s toughest off-road 50K relay and ultra-marathon, taking place Sunday 21 February 2016.

Now in its seventh year, Off the Beaten Track promises athletes a new route with countless turns and unique challenges.  It is a true trail race offering maximal endurance where each participant will get the exhilarating opportunity to venture along hidden back roads, bush, dykes and maybe even some white sandy beach. Off the Beaten Track is perfect for individuals seeking a different type of race through unchartered areas of the island.

Runners ready for a challenge are invited to participate as a solo runner taking on the whole 50kilometers or in relay teams of six, with each runner completing approximately 8 kilometers. Why not get together a team of colleagues and participate as a Corporate Relay team to battle for the coveted title of the fittest team in Cayman!

The Off the Beaten Track course changes every year with runners having only one week to preview the route ahead of time. With many participants running year after year, the different terrains require a real capacity for adaptation from the athletes by creating a competition right in the heart of nature.

Although fundamentally different, each Off the Beaten Track event has common values that aim to raise awareness and funds to a local and international charity. Off The Beaten Track annually supports an international charity, Facing Africa and a local charity, Meals on Wheels. Facing Africa is an established charity dedicated to helping children in Nigeria and Ethiopia affected by NOMA, a deadly infection affecting and distorting the face. With an average mortality rate of 90%, this curable disease is suffered primarily by children under the age of six caught in a vicious cycle of extreme poverty. Local charity, Meals on Wheels operates under the vision that no senior citizen in the Cayman Islands will go hungry or experience social isolation.
