The Purple Dragon martial arts scholarship programme is delighted to welcome law firm Conyers, Dill & Pearman on board as a brand new sponsor. They join a number of other corporate sponsors who have recognised the importance of this popular and successful martial arts programme for young people in the Cayman Islands.
The scholarship programme brings together good corporate citizens like Conyers, Dill & Pearman, and youngsters who may be disadvantaged or unable to find the funds to enable them to participate in the Purple Dragon martial arts programme, so it is an extremely valuable cause and one that has been specifically targeted by the law firm as worthy of support.
Keisha Syms, Human Resources Manager at Conyers, Dill & Pearman, said the firm was more than happy to participate in the sponsorship.
“We recognise how important it is for young people to become involved in a sport because of the many benefits derived from participation. Apart from learning new skills and keeping fit and healthy, sport teaches discipline, team work, perseverance and integrity,” she said. “We believe that the Purple Dragon martial arts programme is a particularly excellent example of a successful sports programme in the Cayman Islands given its focus on respect, personal responsibility and discipline and we are very pleased to be able to ensure that a youngster keen to develop their martial arts skills to have the ability to do so.”
Purple Dragon follows the International Don Jitsu Ryu System of mixed martial arts, as developed by Trinidadian Professor Don Jacob. The school teaches youngsters right the way through to adults, men and women, with many dedicated members going on to earn their black belts through years of rigorous training and practice.
