Recruitment specialists SteppingStones were recently awarded one of the most coveted accolades within Cayman’s business community – the Top Employer Award for 2013 in the small/medium employer category.

This is the company’s second time to be shortlisted as a finalist and Managing Director, Ms Milly Serpell, said she was thrilled that SteppingStones had attained first place this year.

“This award validates our business practices,” Ms Serpell confirmed. “It tells us we are on the right path to ensuring our people are supported, motivated, and rewarded in our workplace.”

Ms Ciara Aspinall, Partner and Operations Supervisor at SteppingStones said it was the strength of the people the company employed that led to the award win.

“It is a cliché but is true – people are a company’s most valuable assets and attracting, challenging, and retaining the best people is the key to success for any business. We feel this award shows we are doing it right,” she said.

The Top Employer Award was launched by the Cayman Islands Society of Human Resource Professionals in 2009. The program recognises leading organisations that attract and retain employees, contribute to the community, and create an environment that exemplifies respect, fairness and pride in the workplace.

“Over the last few years the Top Employer Award has developed in stature and importance and has now become a vital standard setter for industry across the board in the Cayman Islands,” Ms Serpell said.

“Those businesses who can say they have a Top Employer Award have really demonstrated their commitment to their staff,” she said. “And by investing in our people we ensure they have an opportunity to grow, personally and professionally, so they are empowered and inspired to bring the best of themselves to work every day.”

Ms Ahisha Bodden, President of the CISHRP said the Top Employer Awards program had a wider benefit for the Cayman community as a whole.

“The primary goal of the award program is to make the Cayman Islands a better place to work. A better workplace for employees means a better place for our clients and a better global ranking for the Cayman Islands as a place to do business. An enhanced global ranking is good for all of us, from small businesses to large multinational corporations,” she said. “We therefore heartily congratulate SteppingStones for their achievement and look forward to their participation in the 2014 event.”
