Local author Paul Schreiner’s children’s book ‘Rudolf discovers the Cayman Islands’ was on sale over the holiday season for the second year and again supported the Family Resource Centre’s anti-bullying campaign.

This time around, sales of the book raised 00 for the campaign, which aims to educate the public on the harmful effects of bullying and how to prevent and stop it. The campaign was originally founded in Canada and has been active in Cayman for a few years.

“Our goal for this year was to surpass last year’s donation of 00,” Mr Schreiner said. “To be able to say that we achieved that and have a chance to give 00 to such a worthy and important cause is amazing.”

Charmaine Miller, programme coordinator at the Family Resource Centre, said that they are very grateful for Mr Schreiner’s continued support of their anti-bullying campaign.

“We can’t thank Paul enough for all of his support and for donating to the campaign for the second year in a row,” she said. “This donation will be crucial in continuing and further expanding the programme this year.”

Over 750 books were sold throughout the months of December and January, and all profits are being donated to the Family Resource Centre.

“I am so grateful for all of the support the book has received from the community,” said Mr Schreiner. “A huge thank you to everyone who went out and purchased a book or made a donation.”

“I also would like to extend a thank you to Tower Marketing for their work in promoting the book and helping to push sales over the holidays,” he said.

Lynne Byles, Managing Director at Tower, said that she was pleased with the amount the book was able to raise and donate this year.

“Working on this project is always a highlight of our year at Tower,” she said, “We are extremely happy that we were able to assist with improving on the numbers from last year and being able to donate to the Family Resource Centre’s campaign.”

Books are still available for purchase at AL Thompson’s and Books and Books.
